Size might help. Without size, it might be a fence post.

I don't think it is a fibula.

Size and better photo of the design would be nice.  Looks like they end in lion's feet - to the left side of the photo.  Some sort of furniture item - brace and foot for a small chest or box???  Would have to see design to date it.
