Hirsch 1910, XXVI ?
« on: August 20, 2017, 07:49:38 pm »
Checking some references to a Hirsch 1910, May 23-24 sale in Munich, I did find the relevant catalogue... but... Even though the text makes references to plates "Abgebildet Tafel XXIII" no such plates are present. Am I to understand that those were removed from this particular catalogue? There should be 24 plates of coin images, according to descriptions from literature sales.

Anyone have any idea where I'd be able to find the plates for that sale?

Thanks,

Due to the high production costs of photographic plates, catalogues of that era could often be ordered with or without the plates. This catalogue, Hirsch XXVI, cost 12 Mark with the plates, or 2 Mark if you ordered the text pages only (Scan 3). Apparently Heidelberg does not own the plates.

What lot numbers are you looking for? We do have the catalogue in our office.

Aaaah!

I'm looking for the entire plate XXIII, or lots between 795 to 803.

Thanks Lars, for the catalogue lesson inclusive.

This is a picture - a scan would have torn the binding of the catalogue.

A photo is sufficient for my needs.

Thanks again, Lars! You made my day, actually.
