new member -- help identifying this coin
« on: August 01, 2017, 11:53:04 am »
Hello all -- I teach classics and New Testament, with a degree in classical civ. I mention that only to say that I understand the basics of Roman coinage and can follow discussions without getting lost in the terminology. However, I am not an expert in classical coins.

Can anyone identify this coin?

The style of the palm trees suggests to me that it is Roman, but the inscription confuses me (is that a Greek delta under the palm trees? Can't be.)

Thanks for your help! (And I hope I attached the pictures correctly.)
