An Exceedingly Rare Antiochene Vespasian Denarius
« on: July 25, 2017, 06:18:06 am »
I was quite thrilled when my latest addition arrived in the mail last week. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-138483

It's only the seventh recorded specimen - so, needless to say I had a long wait!

Also, I would be remiss if I did not mention another specimen of the type which appeared in the pages of Forvm nearly 10 years ago (ex Tom Cederlind). https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=39617.0

Fabulous coin David. I love the details of Victory on the reverse!

Incredible coin David, what a beauty.  You motivated me to photograph a much more worn example from my collection.

Thanks all for the kind comments!

Nemo, that is a terrific piece. And looks to be an obverse match with mine.

Thanks Peter! Indeed it is an amazing portrait, probably the best the Antioch mint had to offer.
