Hello and Help
« on: July 21, 2017, 02:01:35 am »
Total newbie here.

I have this coin, but I am not sure if it is:
a) Roman or Greek
b) What era it relates to
c) Whether if it is real or knockoff

I tried looking it up, but could not find a picture that resembles it.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Looks like this:

SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter. 281-261 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29mm, 16.97 g, 9h). Uncertain mint. Diademed head right / Apollo Delphios seated left on omphalos; monograms to left and right. SC 477.

Free the coin!!!

Seriously, you cannot hurt this kind of coin by touching it, even with bare hands.  It is not like mint state modern coins.  And you can't really tell anything about its surface and authenticity without handling it.
