Hi all,

I tend to agree that the obverse could be a winged lion, maybe a tornesello of Venice?

I can make out on the reverse what could be 'MOC.' Maybe a tornesello of Alvise Mocenigo (1570-1577)

Hi folks,

When I first looked at the photos, I thought of Venice also. The obverse does look somewhat like a winged lion. But there is something "off" about it. It doesn't look right. Could the obverse be over-struck?

Hi all,

The attachment is an example of the Venetian Tornesello that I was referring to above. After some research, I do not think Alvise Mocenigo is a viable attribution for this coin. His reign as doge was too late for the period in which this coin was probably struck.

I would feel very comfortable attributing your coin as a Tornesello of Tommaso Mocenigo (1414-1423). I think your comparison pictures are very similar. That was fun, wasn't it?
