I received a nice big hunk of silver today.  .

Syrian tetradrachm from Domitian dated year 8 (88/9 AD) which has a fantastic Aegis.  Really great detail on the gorgon and the portrait of Domitian isn't too bad either!   Well centered eagle with everything on flan.  But it's the portrait and Aegis that really sold me on the coin.

Excellent coin Jay!

I too am collecting Syrian tetradrachms.

Here is mine of Domitian. I acquired it over a decade ago. It is one of my favourite coins in my collection.

a seemingly awkward artistic assignment, which this engraver has achieved very handsomely.
congratulations on this one Jay (and Peter).

New photo of an old coin.  Amazing dark and light brown patina.  Scratches not so visible in hand.  Love the look of this!

Thanks!  It's actually a very glossy patina in hand and I love the hard dirt that still remains in places.

2 new photos of some older coins.  One is in the BOT:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-143340

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-143339

The new pics are superior to the originals but they loose some of the tone they have developed.
