After completing the
12 Caesars, I decided to build a
collection of historical figures on coins. The 2 coins that follow are examples of important historical figures on
gold coins of the
medieval period. I will of course continue to upgrade the coins in my my
12 Caesars set.
The first coin is of Saladin. Saladin's contribution to
history is well known. He invaded Jerusalem in 1187 and was an adversary of Richard I.

The second coin is of Sulayman the Magnificent who was the longest reigning
Sultan of the
Ottoman empire.
