Correct in calling it a "birdseye" weight

It is a Islamic one Dirham weight which is based on a weight of 2.9, so slightly overweight.
Likely 10th-12 cent.

Thought reasonably I think to be Islamic (very likely/assumed) and though felt to be coin weights Holland points out that both Skinner and Balog which have written much on Islamic weights comments that though these weights have been commonly found few Islamic balances have been found. Holland averaged out nearly 200 weights found in Islamic Bronze Weights from Caesarea  and breaks down their units as follows;

2 dirham Weights of 5.774 equals 2 dirhams of  2.887
1 dirham weight of 2.875 equals 1 dirham
1/2 dirham weights of 1.422 equals 1 dirham of 2.844
1/3 dirham weights of .952 equals 1 dirham of 2.856
1/6 dirham weights of .472 equals 1 dirham of 2.832
1/12 dirham weights of .236 equals 1 dirham of 2.832

He ends up giving a weighted average of 2.850g
