Just very worn or a cast?  The weight is quite light.  I wonder if it is an ancient cast copy as were common in the East.

Thanks for the reply, How would I be able to tell if it is a fake?
This coin was to given to me by a friend who received it as a gift from another friend so cant say for sure where it came from originally.

An ancient cast copy is a real fake, ie very collectible in itself because it is the real thing  ;D

I suspect that the coin is cast, too. Look at the beaded rim on the obv and the general softness of lettering and other details do indicate a cast, too.

Just my 2 c,

Clueless

Can you provide a image of the edge?

An ancient cast imitation is a genuine ancient coin, just not one made as part of an official issue.

A cast could also be a modern fake.  It is hard to be certain from an image....

Something that shows the side.

The coin really seems to be cast and not struck.  The colouring and surface look odd - though that could just be the colouring of the photo.  It does look a bit like the fake modern casts you see in the Middle East.

Hi Shawn,

Tried my best to take some photos of the side.
You seem pretty sure it is a fake which is good enough for me.
I thought it felt a little light compared to some of my other similar sized coins

Anyway thanks for you help
Have attached a couple of extra photos

There is a fairly clear edge seam, not in the middle of the edge but toward the reverse.
