Ok, do Greek Imperial coins fall into the ancient greek coin category, the roman category, or both?

Personal opinion only:  they are Roman.

Though they have legends in Greek they were struck within the Roman Empire

Also, "Roman" is not just an empire, a nation, or a region, it is also a period. Similar to the definition of earlier coins as "Greek" including coins struck by many non-Greek cultures, any coin struck between about 30 B.C. and 500 A.D. is "Roman."

And, there are Roman provincial coins with Latin inscriptions, which certainly don't fit with name Greek imperial.

If I had to choose just one, I agree with Shawn. I would choose Roman provincial.

In my opinion the term 'Greek Imperial' is a misnomer.
If Roman Imperial means coins of the Roman empire, then the same would apply to Greek Imperial. And since there never was a Greek empire this makes no sense.

I've always said a
good rule of thumb is that Greek coins don't depict Roman emperors.

I too think that "Roman provincial coins" is more correct than "Greek imperial coins".
