« on: March 05, 2017, 11:22:18 am »
Hi!

In the reference of a coin in my collection of Antiochos II. from Seleukia ad Tigrem I found "Gülnar 2/2928, pl. 87". I couldn't find any Information in the web. Please, can you help me?

Thanks in advance

The link doesn't work but I did a search for the name and several works appeared.

Hello Jochen,

I believe Molinari is on the right track.  "Gülnar" seems to reference the Gülnar hoard found in 1980, later referred as the Meydancikkale hoard to reflect the hoard's location.

Alain Davesne and Georges Le Rider. Gunnar II. Le Tresor de Meydancikkale (Cilicie Trachee, 1980).  Institute Francais d’Etudes Anatoliennes.  Editions Recherché sur les Civilizations. Paris, 1989, 2 vols. 377 pp., 157 pls.

The below link will take you to a review of the work.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Jeremy

I added NumisWiki links for Gulnar and Gülnar, so they now link to the NumisWiki Tresor de Meydancikkale page. On the Meydancikkale page, I added that the hoard was renamed and a link to the review.
