Heidelberg auction catalogs
« on: February 07, 2017, 08:00:13 am »
Hi all,
The online collection of Heidelberg auction catalogs is a super useful resource.  My question is there a page which shows all the numismatic catalogs they have as a single page?  Searching individual catalogs has not been very efficient, so given the choice I would prefer just to see all the holdings together.
Thanks,
Kevin

Is there a page on the Heidelberg site which shows all the pdfs?

I use the Heidelberg archives quite a lot. The trick - if I remember correctly - is to enter a name such as Cahn or one of the other auction houses, then there is usually a line with something like Catalogs - Auction Catalogs - Cahn... or similar. If you click on the "Auction Catalogs" part of the line then you often get a list of thousands of Auction Catalogs. But it does not sort them into ancient, modern, middle ages etc. of course, because many catalogs contain a mixture of coins from all ages.

"acsearch.info contains some of their auctions:"

I think there was a slight misunderstanding here: acsearch contains the auction catalogues of Heidelberger Münzhandlung Herbert Grün e.K,
but I believe the original poster was talking about the catalogue archives at Universität Heidelberg.

While there is "no single page" that lists all of their holdings, one can, at least, search by keywords in titles:

"Griechische Münzen" - https://tinyurl.com/Heidelberg-Greek

"Römische Münzen" - https://tinyurl.com/Heidelberg-Roman

"Antike Münzen" - https://tinyurl.com/Heid-Antike

There's some overlap/underlap in the results.
