Zeugitania Carthage AR 18 5,44gr WHICH DENOMINATION?
« on: January 25, 2017, 10:08:27 am »
I adquired this one about 8 months ago, I have tried to find a coin from Carthage with same weight as mine but I havenĀ“t so far.

It is to heavy to be a Half-Shequel and no weight enough to be a Sequel, any idea about?

It shows An uraeus above the horse, coins like this one are suposed to be from the second Punic war "As far as I know"

FAKE? I don't believe so as it was bought on an auction from a really reputated seller, but you never know....

Any idea will be really apreciated.

Thanks so much

Size?  Weight?  It has the soft, soapy look of a cast, particularly on the reverse.

Here is the proof that profesional sellers screw up too, as it was bought from SAVOCA and still having the invoice for it.

Has someone have a problem like this with Mr Matteo Savoca? I trusted completely as it is a great dealer, although from the begining I didn't find any coin weighted like this one.

I don't know if emailing him and let him know about

If you are concerned about a coin it is always worth contacting the dealer.

The only reason I might not is if it was part of a large "as is" lot.
