Golden Byzantine Brooch

Hi all ,


Take a look at this nice piece of golden byzantine brooch , if i am correct about this type of jewelry!! .


What is the Kind of gemstones on it  ? and How can i examine them to know the real value ?




Any ideas about the origin , date , type , ...... etc   are more than welcomed ...

Such an item could be extremely rare and valuable if genuine.  However I have doubts about it.  The thick structure is very odd and not a form seen on any original Roman or Byzantine era fibula I have seen.  Secondly, the two parts of the catch mechanism on the back have no parallel in Roman or Byzantine types but appear modern.  I would have it seen by an expert - like the British museum - for further insight.
