Thanks to Pekka, who has pointed me to this
thread.
Hi SRukke!
Your coin is actually not in
Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2015). Here is my
attribution:
Moesia inferior,
Nikopolis ad Istrum,
Elagabal, AD 218-222
AE 27, 13.1g
struck under governor Novius Rufus
obv. AVT K M AVRH - ANTWNEINOC
Bust, draped and
cuirassed, seen from behind, laureate, r.
rev. VP NOBIOV ROVFOV NI - KOPOLITWN
PROC ICT
in l. and r.
field RO - N
Tyche, in long garment and mantle, wearing
kalathos, stg. frontal,
head l.,
holding in l.
arm cornucopiae and in extended r. hand rudder (without globe)
ref. a)
AMNG I/1, 1972
var. (has in
field R / ON)
b)
Varbanov (engl.) 4080
var. (=
AMNG 1972)
c) not in
Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2015):
rev. No. 8.26.38.18 (same die)
obv. e.g. No. 8.26.38.22 (same die)
The back of the
bust shows folds of the drapery, it is not
cuirassed. But the flap on
his r. shoulder is
part of
his cuirass.
So it is a new die combination. I would like to add your coin to Nikopolis Addenda #4.
Nina Hristova has recently mailed me that she will begin to
work on the new 2017 edition in February. May be that the new edition will be published in May 2017.
Best regards
