N / 4 pellet in circles AE 1.29 - Islamic or Byzantine?
« on: December 22, 2016, 02:20:58 am »
reading Hollands "Islamic Bronze weights from Caesarea Maritima" he comments on attributing the "birds Eye Weights" as Islamic weights. Yet this has a Byzantine ? large "N"

weighs 1.29 which puts it in a awkward weight transition.

9/8/1mm

I had this question partially answered off line. This might be considered a transitional weight dated from possibly mid 7th century. Possible weight for 1/4 Mithqal 4=4.82

thanks to Klaus for his help as always
