Judaean coin unknown?
« on: November 23, 2016, 04:33:52 pm »
Hello folks,
I've had this coin given to me in some deal a while back & it seems to be a Judean coin?
The weight is around 2.5 grams & diameter is 15mm.
Would like a hand to identify it, thanks.
Best Regards,
Brunus

What is the material?  It looks like lead.

Thanks for responding back, well it's very light and it's surely not bronze!!
Maybe it's lead!!
How can i know if it's lead?
Sincerly,
Brunus

I suspect it to be cast fake, I have seen many examples like it trying to imitate Widow's mites, applying fake patina and a layer of dust to them.

I have seen a few of these things before and they seem to be genuinely old.  Might be part broken off a votive item.

Hi all

Could it be an English lead token from 1700/1800AD,? it looks a bit like mine.

Cheers Kim
