This is Fatimid fractional dinar of l Mustansir, mint and date off flan

That is what I thought for the first moment.

Imam Maad Al Mustansir Billah


But what refrained me from posting is

On this ( half Dinar or maybe ¼ of ) ;
Where is the letter R (ر) in  Al Mustansir  as you know it is always under the line . It looks D (د) more ( but Al Mu'taded was not Maad , yet impossible there is a clear siin س also he is not one of the rulers in spite the weak sovrenty  of Bagg'dad)
and if you consider the Bi ( با )for billah  is there ,so there is only Saad (ص) in his name as the last letter.

There is only another Maad ( Imam Maad Al Muzz Li Din Allah )
معد المعز لدين الله

I would accept Imam Maad Al Mustansir Billah but with miss spilling.

I wish members in here , know how hard it is to figure all those letters,

Fatimid Kufic script is so hard to read on coins.
But nothing is impossible, just try to handle and see Fatimid coins as much as you can.

Hi Bakker , how are you , I hope you are safe ?
I think you know I can read every type of Arabic letter , I even can read Karshoni ( Syriac Aramaic letters but you read Arabic , which was the one used by all early Islamic offices in Syria )
You also agreed that the engraver is not very professional on Nov 20.
As there are error on Roman coins and others , you also can find not well formed letters on Islamic coins.
I hope you are not confused with another thread?
