Antoninianus - Gordian III?
« on: October 21, 2016, 07:41:38 am »
Hello. I - numismatist from Ukraine. Recently acquired the coin here:
http://auction.violity.com/29054503-antoninian-imp-gordiana
I am not an expert in ancient coins (collect coins mostly modern world, - http://dema.com.ua/), so I have some doubts.
Tell me, please, it really Antoninianus Gordian III? - On the Internet many images of such coins, but I do not like the portrait (compare with existing online photos) ... Now I think if my coin - Antoninianus Gordian it? Or is it original?

It appears to be an antoninianus of Gordian III from the mint of Antioch, second series, issued 242-244.

It would have been nice if you had posted a photo of the reverse too.
