X-ray imaging of fused mass of coins

Fascinating use of new technology to evaluate a fragile mass of fused coins; and an interesting archaeological story as well...

Some years ago there was another of these technological
breakthroughs where they used, if I recall correctly, some
kind of CT imaging to penetrate a jar of Roman denarii.
This allowed for each coin to be individually identified before
the pot was taken apart and the coins physically removed.
I am sure it is in the archives somewhere.
Fascinating!
