I really have no idea on either the countermark or host coin.  Any help is appreciated.

A bronze from Rhodos perhaps? That's just a guess though.

Ok,  I have working on this one again.   I think I may have figured out the host coin.  The face,  beading, and sand patina have combined to lead me to think this is Apollo from Seleukia in Cilicia, forepart of horse on the reverse.

The countermark is more intriguing.  There are lots of eight spoke stars but not six.   Also,  the punch was also oval not round.   I found a similar punch in acsearch on a coin of Herod Phillip II from Paneas.  The punch was also placed in the same location.

Does the board think this is the same or just a coincidence?

Thanks,
Nathan

I don't think it is the same exact die for the countrrmarks but I would not be surprised if both came from the same authority.  What is the difference in the dating of the two coins?

The host coin would be 2nd - 1st century BC.

The other coin is 15/16 AD.
