Coin ID Help Beautiful little Greek Coin.
« on: July 17, 2016, 12:39:50 pm »
This is one of my favorite greek coins, even though it is tiny.  I have tried countless hours to ID.  It appears to be a nymph facing right with a capricorn or cornucopia in front.  The reverse appears to be Apollo facing with crazy hair.  Naturally I really checked Rhodes, but I found nothing.  Truly looks better than my terrible photography skills allow.  Thanks!

9mm &  .92g

Looks like Helios to me.

Could be that too.  Any idea on cities (besides Rhoades) that used Helios

Dear Nathan and Board,

I refer everyone to some of the research that has been done on this enigmatic coin type and related issues:

Hope it helps.

Mark, I am impressed.  Thank you so much.

Since this is a new type, do you think anyone would be interested in higher quality photos of it?  I am so thankful for all the work others have done that I would love to help out in my own modest way.

Nathan

Dear Nathan and Board,

My apologies for the severely late response.  I am just getting back into my numismatic research/writing mode after the sudden passing of my father on May 18.

Yes, please do take better photos of your specimen.  I am doing a study on these Iasian coin types and would like to illustrate your piece in a short article, if possible and with your permission.  The sooner you get the images to me (with the e-mail address in my profile), the better.

Best regards,
