Mint symbols on LRB altars
« on: June 23, 2016, 01:20:59 pm »
Fairly recently, a member posted an image showing mint symbols on LRB altar reverse. I can't seem to find it.
I would appreciate a link to that image/discussion. Thanks.

Was this the chart from the Bruck book Late Roman Bronze Coinage?   That book, recently translated to English, is good for charts on many LRB topics.  I recall thinking I wanted a copy when I saw Tory Failmezger's then old German copy years ago and really value the new translation available now.

I don't know, Doug. But it WAS a scan of printed material, as I recollect. Posted right here on Forum.

Are you talking about the symbols on the altars for the VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP reverse type?

You can get a soft-cover English translation of Bruck's book "Late Roman Bronze Coinage: An attribution guide for poorly preserved coins." for $25 from the translator:

http://www.lateromanbronzecoins.com/

I think there is in fact a 15% off coupon via his site.

This has drawings of a great number of VLPP altar designs, as well as info on over a hundred other coins types.

I am assuming you may have seen these from Dane's pages, but if you haven't here are the screen shots.

Super! Thanks, Biancasdad!
Shawn, I have both Failmetzger book and Bruck, but I'm still sorting out books from my recent move...,and can't find them. They'll show up eventually. THANKS everyone!
