ID for Lead Sling Bullets #1
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:45:52 pm »
Ave!

Lead; c. 39gm/38mm

All lead sling bullets were cast in molds and most with no legends or inscriptions...while others had both. I received a few the other day and most have Greek inscriptions. If anyone can translate or guide me with them, I would be most appreciative of your thoughts as to where cast and the meaning of the inscriptions.

ΛΥ (Lambda Upsilon) with Monogram on reverse.

Thanks for looking!

Best to all,

Kevin

I collect sling bullets and have an example very similar to the top one, they are bullets of the forces of Lysimachus, with his monogram on one side. With that information you can easily find published references/pictures.
