My new coin (brockage)
L. Licinius Crassus and Cn. Domitius Ahenobarbus with L. Cosconius M.F., Denarius serratus, Narbo, 118 BC
Roma have cavity at the back of the head
Why are they?

If they found a batch of coins which was too heavy, they used to take scoops out until the overall weight (not the weight of the individual coins) was correct. Unless it's just random damage, of course. the more I look at the pic, the less sure I am given that the 'scoop' is in a damaged area.

I collect the scooped coins and believe what I see here is post mint damage.  It almost looks like someone grabbed it with pliers.

Is it possible to be a rare case that a stamp stuck and stalled until two coins?
A trace of pincers is an attempt of separating and removing them?
