Some more Parthians
« on: July 03, 2015, 10:45:57 am »
The Middle Parthian Period I is complete now.  It only shows tetras, drachms, and 1 obol of Orodes II. - the other rulers listed in the album description will be moved to the Middle Parthian Period II album for reasons of convenience: There were more Orodes coins than anticipated.
MPPI contains the superb portraits of the of the S.46 drachms from Mithradatkart, some intriguing pieces from lesser mints like Kangavar, Traxiane, Nisa, Laodikaia, Areia, and Margiane as well as 3 tetras (a Sellwood plate coin, a S.45.6 from the Sellwood collection, and a rather chubby 48.1 Orodes), and a pretty rare obol.

Here are some links to the most interesting coins, but the others are also worth a look:

Congrats on the completion of your Middle Parthian Period I gallery, Schatz!  Must feel good.  It looks great and the selection of mints represented is impressive!  I appreciate the thoroughness of your descriptions too...I've always been too lazy to do more than provide a date and Sellwood number for mine.

Regarding "There were more Orodes coins than anticipated"...Yeah, I feel real sorry for 'ya (read: sarcasm)  If only I had a similar problem...

Thanks, Bob,

the posting has become more routine and is no longer so time consuming, so I suspect I just went ahead and posted more than I wanted to at the outset of the session.  There is simply so much that accumulates over the decades. Weren't there clubs in the old days where you could go and swap coins or stamps and get rid of the doubles or triples in your collection?  Well, there is always E..y, I guess if storage becomes a problem.
