Has anyone used "Magic cleaning pencils" to clean coins?

I just stumbled across your posting.  Let me preface this by acknowledging that I'm a disastrous coin cleaner (akin to "We had to destroy the village in order to save it.") Having said that, I did try these for cleaning and was not particularly pleased with the results that at least I had.  They tended to do a number on the patina.  I suspect that as with any other tool, if used very carefully, they could be a useful adjunct, but it seemed easy to mess up with them.
Best,
Larry
