Identification Help
« on: May 25, 2015, 06:42:37 pm »
This bronze coin i have has some sort of animal with a long neck sitting on its hind legs. I can read part of the legend, which says SUV, there is more letters but that is all i can read. Can i get some insight on where this coin came from?

Edit: It may say "SAVG" and the animal could have wings

There are a few coins of Gallienus with reverses that sound like your coin. Below is an example with a reverse legend of SOLI CONS AVG

a picture of your coin would make this easier though.

It's a Gallienus coin with a reverse legend of APOLLINI CONS AVG, Griffin seated left.
