Need some help with this septimius severus denarius from emesa, because I can't find an exact match in RIC:

Obv: IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II
Rev: MONETA AVG (dot dot?)

RIC IV A 411 is listed as MONET AVG and it is the closest I get identifying this coin.

Pics added and also a detail of the dots. Is it RIC IV A 411 var?

Dots occur but do not impact on attribution.

check, I understand. The dots seemed part of the legend and they look a bit off. I still haven't completed the attribution as RIC doesn't list a MONETA AVG reverse.  Is this legend known?

Benito,
That is Alexandria rather than the COS II (Emesa?) mint.

I don't have a MONETA AVG for COS II in my collection so this would appear to be a RIC 411 var.
I have MONET AVG, MONETAE AVG, MONTE AVG MONEI AVG... there are lots of unbublished varieties in this series.
Regards,
Martin

Yes. The face is not the funny one of Emesa. But the reverse MONETA exists.

Thanks Benito and Martin. I will list it as 411 var  :)
