Philip I roman antoninianus

I purchsed this a little while back but since I don't have an album yet, I promised that I would post this coin.  It is extremely clean, and I believe it can fall under the portrait category.

Thanx Q.  i know that these don't receive much attention because they are common, but it makes for an impressive piece to show non-collectors, as well as having a variety of facial expressions.

As quadrans says Matthew C5, a very nice example. You are right about the antoniniani of this period being good to show non-collectors. They are relatively big for an ancient silver coin and often have excellent portraits, as your one does, that anyone with some historical knowledge or artistic interest can easily appreciate. Serious historians and collectors also get a lot out of them though, because they are such a good primary source for a period which sadly, only a few historical works have survived.

Best Regards,
Steve
