Cleaning a Patera handle...not a coin
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:08:06 pm »
Ave!

Not sure where to add this post...but what the heck, as collectors do receive non-coin artifacts.

This lovely Ram-headed patera handle was received with simple dry dirt and only took a few hours of DW soaks and dry cleaning.

We only used a simple scalpel and nothing else for the cleaning...then applied Ren Wax to deepen the original patina.

Best regards,

Kevin

Nice.  I have had a few items that clean up like that.  But sadly most don't.  Just like coins I guess.  The wonderful patinas do exist waiting to be exposed but they are the exception and not the rule.
