Antiochos? Palm tree reverse
« on: February 23, 2015, 12:22:14 pm »
AE 13 mm; 2.05 g
My assumption is that this is one of the Antiochos' coins, but I can't narrow it down by what's legible.  Also, how does one tell which city?  Thanks much for any help.

Tyre

The name is missing on the left but it looks like a coin of Antiochos III or IV or Demetrios - about 1st half of 2nd C. BC.  There are many comprehensive reference books covering Seleucid coin types:  SC (Seleucid Coins), SNG Israel (Spaer),  and Hoover's HGC volume on Syria will be helpful.
