Perhaps an African or Parthian AE?
« on: February 22, 2015, 07:54:28 pm »
Very odd little AE. The tiara looks Parthian and I have no idea what the reverse
is supposed to represent. The legend seems to read _OXIOX..
Does anyone recognise it ?

Some similarities in acsearch.info for Armenia, and Armenia under Antiochos IV?

I agree it could be Armenian but the lettering on the right looks awfully barbaric and if the rest of the legend (on the left) is the same size, there is no room for the entire title BASILEWS.

I may be way off here but it reminds me of Axumite coins though nothing comes up that is similar.
