Two varieties of the same reverse type, so both should perhaps be kept?

Potator's is the normal variant with four barbs at each end of the thunderbolt, Charles' the rarer variety with six barbs at each end.

Cohen gives these varieties separate numbers (682 and 684), while RIC doesn't describe the difference and includes both of them under RIC 618.

Curtis,

I have returned Potator II's coin to the BOT gallery as you have suggested, but I think it is only fair that the result of the head to head (which took place a couple of months ago and was based on the identical RIC numbers) should still stand.

I didn't notice this contest when it was held two months ago, and thought I was responding to a recent posting.

Qualitywise, Charles' specimen is clearly superior!

As experienced before with a bust variant for the same reverse type, it is sometimes tricky to solely consider the RIC number for a challenge, resulting in one of the coins to disappear from BOT.  I agree that it is good to keep the different variants of the same reverse type but at the same time I'm glad my specimen keeps its BOT award 2015 !  Thank you Alex !
