« on: February 11, 2015, 12:56:14 pm »
Hello

I could only read Muhammad and two "la" on both face of coin.

Any help is appreciated.

Sincerely

On both side written in Arabic with modern letter ( modern Naskhi النسخ)

No God But Allah  Mohammed Messenger of Allah.
لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله

That is whay you see two   لا   one is لا  (No ) the other is part of the word الا (but )
No idea if it is a coin or not. Could be sort of memory of something or religious occasion.

Sam

Added *  I do not see a date on it.

I think so , they usually call them Temple Tokens or souvenirs. With possibility of they were also made to be sold to tourist as ancient coins ..you know.

In big occasions or souvenirs , the event will be written on the coin.

In Arabic the form of the letter (I mean  the kind of the writing - there are too many - but for coins and souvenirs few kinds used only)  can sometimes leads to the time was written , like before some certain time or after .
sometimes you can know if the coin is authentic or not from the kind of writing on it.

As example some of Abdul Malik bin Marwan very early golden dinars
we would know them from the weak letter of kuffi كوفي kind used on them.

You are very welcome.
