Dears Experts,

Would you be so kind to give your  valuable advise, what age and name for this coin, how rare is it and how much does it cost on the current market.

I've tried to originate it myself for a year and realized I need your expertise opinion.

These coins are coming from Austria, from my husband's grandpa, who found it in his garden in Upper Austria, Salzburg region by Attersee lake.

Appreciate your help!

Kind regards,
Natalie

Size and weight will help.

I think it is a tetradrachm  of Alexander the Great minted well after his death.

After a little more study, I will go out on a limb and say I am 99% sure this is a cast copy... casting bubbles, ( which seem to adhere more to the laws of gasses in fluids than they do corrosion in soil..), soapy surfaces, it looks distinctly wrong...  :( sorry.
( of course I could be way off the mark, and if so I will eat my words, but unfortunately I doubt I will have to.)

 With best wishes,

Lee.

It does look cast however the bubbles are not really circular and there appears to be encrustations or leaching on the surface.  Notice the red spots. Perhaps it is just corroded.  I'll hold off judgement until I hear other opinions.  I don'the really know the type.  It very well could be cast.

I'll also bet it's 180 degree die rotation, the bubbles "point" for want of a better term , down on the obverse and up on the reverse.. Look at the tear shaped bubble at 6 o'clock on heracleses cheek, along with several of similar shape on the reverse...

What does it mean cast fake? If this coin was found in the same place with other 2, would anybody ancient make a cast fakes back those times? I was trying to study those red spots on the coin. Looks like a paint, but a weird dark red color and deeply stuck to the coin, some are dots, some are long inside red stripes. On the portrait side of the coin, down by the neck it also has a little hole with corrosion, I suppose. Please see additional photos.

Appreciate your opinion!

That edge of the coin, the clearly visible seam and the filemarks, no doubt that this is a cast piece.

It is a cast fake, and despite the tale of where and when it was found, it is in all probability modern.  Modern fakes get found in many ways!

Ancient coins are not found together like this. There are hundreds of years and kilometers between them. Many of these stories about family heirlooms get distorted or they are made up. But this coin looks like a modern fake, the story doesn't matter.

Dear Experts,

Thank you for cracking two out of three deals!

So the large Tetradrachm appeared to be a modern cast fake.
A silver Denarius of Caracalla is the original artifact.
Anybody can crack the Galerius middle coin? I can provide more photos, if necessary.

Best regards,
Natalie
