Title: AE4 MONOGRAMM

Hi Forum,

I cann't find this monogramm although it seems clearly. The other strange thing is that I see white metal under the green oxyde. The coin has 10 mm and looks like usual V century AE 4.
What is this?

The monogramm seems to be equal to one on your coin. But I have same problems with this. Firstly, as I mentioned, the coin manufactured from white metal, and the second thing is that the coin I find in Israel. It seems very strange that coins of ostrogothic king where legal currency in Ostern Roman Empire.

It seems your monogram leads to Athalaric.

Just for your interest here is another one on a silver half-siliqua located at the Numismatic Museum, Athens, Greece.

This coin is an Ae nummus or Athalaric (526 - 534) struck in Ravenna under Iustinianus.
obv:  IV.....ANI
Bus of Justinian I  right, beardless, wearing daidem and cuirass. Border of dots
rv. monogram of Athalaric within wreath.

To my seem this nummus, like the my, has stayed coined from the mint from Rome in the period of  Athalaricus to Rome.
The nummii of the mint of Ravenna are of other style.
This monogram is from time stayed listed to the mint from Rome.

Hi Ser,
You are right, it's the mint of Roma. This monogram seems to be struck only in this mint.  Here a specimen of the Museum of Zagreb, Demo, 179. The obverse  could be struck with the same die that the specimen of Explorer.
