Title: AE25 Zeus holding Tyche?
Post by: ancientone on February 22, 2021, 10:55:49 am
The obverse reminds me of a Syrian Tetradrachm but I'm having zero luck finding a reverse like this.

Sellers description- 11.88 grams 25mm, AD 212-17
Obv. AVT K M A ANTΩNINOC, Laureate bust of Emperor Caracalla right
Rv. (ΓAB - A - ΛEωN) ? Zeus (?) seated left holding Tyche with cornucopia and rudder

Thank you,
Charlie

Dear Charlie and Board,

Gabala sounds good to me.  Here is an obverse die match:

For the Zeus/Tyche reverse, this ANS coin may be a match (despite how they describe their piece):

I have Lindgren III, but it is packed away right now.  If you don't get a confirmation soon from someone else, feel free to let me know.

Best regards,

Lindgren III 1190 is similar, but not same:
Caracalla is bare headed and young, Zeus holds Nike.
