Title: Bronze lion?
Post by: Mahmud G on November 18, 2020, 02:18:16 am
Hello,

What may we say about the period; Roman, Byzantine, Steppic etc?

4,5 cm length

Sincerely

I am not sure what this is.

It is quite small.  How thick is it?

At first I thought it might be a Roman razor handle but it is too small and there are no signs that it once had an iron blade embedded in one side.

The holes are also slightly odd.  There are raised rims around the holes on the reverse, sign of a drilling process.

This doesn't necessarily mean it is modern but is not seen on many Roman items.

Hello again,

Firstly thanks for your comment. It is nearly 1 mm thick, in fact i wonder about the artistic style much more than purpose. It is sure not modern but may it be a medieval piece, Byzantine or Turkic or another?
