Title: Help to ID AR aspron trachy
Post by: ss26stone on February 07, 2020, 06:53:27 am
Please help me to identify this AR aspron trachy.
I think that looks like aspron Manuel Comnenus-Ducas of Thessalonica, Sear 2174, but it looks like the inscription QEODOPOC DECPOT.
Thanks for all help.

What is the size and weight of the coin?

Beyond the different legend, the Emperor should be holding a labrum, the emperors waist has a different design.  However the Christ figure is very distinct to that issue.

I do have questions about this coin but there is not many examples to compare it to. CLBC gives it a 5 rating meaning only a few known.

Additionally - diameter 30 mm, weight 3.02 gr.  I would be grateful for other opinions on identification.
