The PtolemAE Project
www.ptolemybronze.com
just got its first update in some months. The appearance of the home page should be more streamlined with less wordy text and some 'dead links' cleaned away and an important link the the new CPE Addendum page also. There's a spankin' new 'welcome image' at the top of a very beautiful Ptolemaic bronze coin. You should also find the home page works better with phones and other portable devices, and the same goes for the 'Coin Series' (identification photos) page.
Alas, with the changes in how the world wide web relates to Java applets, the three interactive ones that were on the site for years have all been removed. Java applets simply became harder and harder to use in most browsers over recent years. The free demo version of the Ptolemaic Bronze identification software (PtAEDemo) is still available for PCs by download but you can't try it interactively on the site anymore. Likewise, on the DieTools page, the interactive versions of die axis trigonometry tool and the DieCount calculator for folks doing die studies became too hard to use with modern browsers. The DieCount calculator, however, is available for Android phones and tables (at the Google Play store) for a very small purchase price. You can automate those tedious, error-prone, die study calculations with your phone now :) And the DieTools page has a link to it.
Welcome back to the newly updated PtolemAE Project.

I haven't caught all the differences yet, but it looks great and loads fast. Thanks!
