Catherine Lorber's long-awaited reference book on Ptolemaic coinage was published in August of 2018 and is now in many numismatic libraries. One of the advantages of CPE over the previously dominant reference work by J. Svoronos (1904-8) is that the CPE documents and catalogs many coin types discovered in the intervening century. Of course the discovery of new types continues so an addendum of some kind is needed and that is now online and 'live'. The CPE Addendum web page(s) will have images, new catalog numbers, and reference data. It's a cooperative effort of The PtolemAE Project with the author, Catharine Lorber.

I'm eager to see the Lorber book you cited, Coins of the Ptolemaic Empire and look forward to its second, and I believe, final volume. The Svoronos reference is feeling rather dated.
Meanwhile, I'll try to make use of what is effectively the online version of the book at Ptolemaic Coins Online (PCO) http://numismatics.org/pco/ (http://numismatics.org/pco/) I've found these museum-calibre sites somewhat challenging to use. I'm guessing they don't focus on ease-of-use or do much end-user testing.

I find it quite good, it is structured very consistently :).
The only thing I never understood is the naming of the monograms :(. You find descriptions like "mertens147", here is an example: http://numismatics.org/pco/id/cpe.1_1.796
(you find it under "Symbol").
Does anyone know what this means? Is there a collection of monograms with such a nomenclature? If so, where do I find it?

To your question, Altamura, the only monogram nomenclature I've seen worth mentioning, especially in this context, is on the PELLA site: http://numismatics.org/pella/symbols (http://numismatics.org/pella/symbols).
All the monograms in PELLA are prefixed with "Price" and, much like your "mertens" then use a number. It's based on the work of Martin Price. As a searchable collection of symbols, it's rather nice.
No such symbols table is available under Seleucid Coins Online (SCO) or Ptolemaic Coins online (PCO). Perhaps they're tied to some source reference material in the same manner.

Clearly not the work we are seeking, but the only Mertens in CNG's online numismatic bibliography:

What we see is an intermediate state of the website. The objective is to show the monograms themselves in some way, but the implementation is not finished yet. At the moment there is no list where these monograms are shown.
