Title: A Special Domitian
Post by: David Atherton on December 05, 2018, 05:56:05 am
The unusual arrangement of the obverse legend combined with the simplified reverse makes this denarius struck for Domitian in 88 AD quite special. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-151561

I am always thrilled to acquire coins from this issue!

Thanks Joe. They are not very common at all. RIC rates it as 'rare', based on its frequency in the major collections. In trade, it's probably even scarcer.
