Hello to all, this head figure got me stumped as the head cap is not familiar to me, it is 7.5× 4.5 cm at the widest, any help narrowing this artifact would be most appreciated!!!!

Interesting. Hat and the form of the eyes do not look Roman to me. Looks a bit like the old stuff from Byblos but not that old. Canaanite????

Thanks Shawn, I had the same feeling of Cannanite origin so i searched on line for something similar but i had no luck!!!!

I don't know statuary, but it strikes me as an African woman, with her hair worn up. or maybe something like a turban.
What is the material? What size?

Hi JBF, I mentioned that it is from black stone and 7.5X 4.5cm, and i am sure that it is from middle eastern culture!!!!
-
Found some interesting possibilities.
Google (image) search:

Thanks Shawn, while each one of these examples has his own individual artistic characteristics, they seems to be very good options to compare with, i will check more examples from these civilizations!!!
-
It looks Neo-Hittite to me.
-
Thanks David for the input, i checked Neo-Hittite examples on line and i think you have reason in this, the resemblance is quite big with this culture!!!!
-
Indeed--it looks very Syro-Hittite.

What kind of black stone? To me it looks like graphite, and if so it is suspect.
-
