Title: Help With Islamic ID - Possible Seljuk AE
Post by: Laird B on September 10, 2017, 12:45:16 am
Hi,

I am looking for some help to identify this coin which has me baffled.  From the ornamentation I think it is Seljuk - I can pick out a couple of easy words but can't figure this out (I should have stuck with the Umayyad dirhams - nice clear inscriptions!).  Any help is much appreciated!

22mm and 3.48g

Thanks

In the middle    الملك الناصر   ( that is as you may say his nick name )

means   the victorious king ( in exact the king who helps other people  and make their victory )

Also, can be an abbreviation of     الملك الناصر (  لدين الله  )
Al Malik Al Nasir li din Allah, means The king supporter  of Allah ‘s religion

Around I can see only  بسم الله ضرب
means in the name of Allah struck ( it would be this fels فلس then  date and city  , but they are gone  ..I have doubt that I can see part of Damascus so . I would say  mint Damascus  دمشق )

In the middle   Yusuf bin Ayyub   ( Joseph son of Ayyub )  يوسف بن ايوب

Around , not clear to read.

Some of them Fels or Fals of Salahu Aldin or other Islamic Fels, have no date on them, undated from the mint.
As you are very welcome, just do not forget about us ( Bakkar and I ) in the end of the year, like a lot of other members we helped over the years.
