Could it be a handle for a drawer or a cupboard? ???

Or part of a hook-and-eye hanger?
Strange piece. So crude that it is hard to tell date, though the rivet heads (?) look old.

Thanks Shawn and Alex, so it will remain unidentified object I suppose!!

How about a situla handle ring? At first glance it would seem like a bad design, but maybe it is bent to fit around the lip of the vessel.

Or, how about a torch holder?

That is a lug handle from and eighteenth or early nineteenth century brass bucket. They were often used as trade items in North America and Africa and used also in Europe where they were manufactured. This is probably of French manufacture. These are often found in excavations of Indian and French colonial sites in the upper Midwest.

Thanks djmacdo, a handle of a bucket is most likely but otherwise i do not think i found it in Jerusalem!!!!

It could have turned up in Jerusalem--these were generally used for cooking over a fire just about everywhere.

Thanks djmacdo, another mystery solved :)
