Of Prowe-Egger I, BCD wrote: "One should perhaps just quote John Spring who in turn quotes Leonard Forrer in Spink's 1929 NC: "the [Bruder Egger] catalogues... are still constantly consulted by scientists and collectors alike". This first Prowe offering includes a selection of Greek rarities, as well as some stunning large Roman Provincial bronzes” (Jacquier 48, 1096).
And: "The Prowe collection had an unusually high percentage of Greek rarities of which the most interesting were illustrated. In this first portion, the Roman Provincials were mixed with the Greek and included some large sized coins. Medallions were also to be found in the Roman section, together with some contorniates” (from Jacquier 47, 2071).
