Areatas

   ARETAS, a King of Arabia, who, according to Josephus, gave 300 talents to Scaurus, to withdraw his army from that country.  This prince is depicted, on a denarius of the Aemilia gens, kneeling, as if in the act of supplicating peace at the hands of the Romans.--See REX ARETAS.
